It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly. You need to replace it where you found it, preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered, then look for a nest and if you can find it, replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick as birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will not reject a baby that has been touched. They recommend not using sunscreen until baby reaches 6 months of age. We did have a little sun hat though, just to keep the sun off his delicate little bald head and the sun out of his eyes! If you have an infant seat with a canopy over it, that will do the same job as a sun hat, so, as long as the weather's warm, you can probablygo without the hat. Doesn't hurt to have a little cotton one packed just in case though, cotton is light and cool during the summer and will protect that little head from the hot sun.
